Housing for Adults with I/DD: We Simplify the Complexity, So You Don’t Have To
We work with people with I/DD and their families who are struggling to understand their options, to get the full benefits their Loved One is entitled to, to find the right roommates and family partners, and to secure the right housing.
You could say we help families put all the pieces together to answer the big questions:
● What does our Loved One need to live outside our family home?
● Who will they live with?
● How can we afford it?
Partners4Housing helps families afford housing by turning existing public benefits and subsidies into practical, workable housing solutions.
First, we conduct a Benefits and Housing Review to identify all income sources and potential support, including Social Security (SSI/SSDI), Section 8 Housing Choice vouchers, state benefits, food assistance, and other programs. Many families qualify for more support than they realize, but the systems are complex and difficult to navigate without guidance.
Second, we help families apply for and use Section 8 housing subsidies, so that rent is based on income and remains affordable in the long term.
Third, we use shared housing strategies, including our Roommate Pool, to reduce housing costs by helping individuals live with compatible roommates and share expenses.
Finally, we create a clear, step-by-step plan tailored to each person’s income, benefits, and goals—so families move from uncertainty to a sustainable, community-based housing solution.
By unlocking existing resources and coordinating them effectively, Partners4Housing shows families how to make housing financially possible.
